Front Yard One Year Later

I was looking back through last August’s posts and found a bunch of photos take of the front yard. This is right after we hired a lawn service to remove a weed-infested rock garden and an ugly podocarpus.

You can see the peach trees I had just planted. They are the bare sticks in the far right.

And this is the front yard a year later.

house summer 2013

This is only the front of the house. The yard’s too large to show everything in one photo, but hopefully this shows what changes you can make in one year. This past year has been full of rapid changes as I moved into permaculture design and implementation. This coming year will be slower. More sheet mulching to kill the lawn and produce new garden beds. More fine-tuning of what’s planted where. More garden art. More rain barrels and irrigation. More diversity and fertility!
