Signs of Spring

I finally made it out to the garden this evening after work for the first time in two weeks. I was worried after being gone for a full week, but everything looked surprisingly good. Happy Spring, everyone.

The best photo I took of the Seminole pumpkin seedlings. When they get a little larger I'm going to scatter marigold and coreopsis seeds around them, then add some sage. Hopefully this will confuse the squash vine borers. These seeds were from the Grow Gainesville seed bank!

These recycled drink bottle cloches are working marvelously to protect the tender seedlings from rampaging armadillos and other pests so far.

Delicate pea flowers

These are the tiny flowers of the sparkleberry tree. Sparkleberry is related to blueberry and I love its tiny nodding bell flowers.
