The trip to the farmer’s market was squeezed in between dropping the girl-child off for gymnastics warmup and the start of the winter gymnastics meet, and even though it was windy and cold and attendance was sparse I am glad I went. Actually, I’m glad I went because the attendance was sparse. I always feel a little guilty when I don’t buy my veggies at the farmer’s market.
What I bought: carrots, tat soi, red peppers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, a big bucket of sweet potatoes, and plenty of green onions.
Tonight: it’s cold, I want soup, and we have company. Lamb, barley and mushroom soup with dill and sour cream, with fresh rosemary bread.
Sunday: leftovers from last week
Monday: Valentines day! I’m making a special dinner for my beloved husband, and he reads this blog… it’s a surprise.
Tuesday: crockpot venison chili for chili burritos, which my kids love
Wednesday: Pork chops, baked sweet potatoes, tat soi sauteed with green onions and bacon
Thursday: crockpot split pea soup and cornbread, using up the ham bone in the freezer and hopefully some carrots out of my garden!
Friday: leftovers or take out.
Lunches: spicy sweet potato dal for me, homemade macaroni and cheese with leftover chicken, penne with any leftover peppers, marinara and goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, oranges
